It was challenging to dress this ensemble of 16 girls to show off all the different personalities and roles they played while still offering a cohesive image of them as a clan. The circus challenge is also to make them look dressed while allowing them maximum movement and minimum tangle with the areal aparatus! This made for lots of hats and accessories.

Each child had several performance partners and belonged to diferent groups such as the Warriors:Finders Keepers at KAC Photo Shootthatclown costumes Maria Chenut

These Trickster gals, and lots of the other hats had to have aviator cap shaped pieces sewn below them to be able to tie them securely during acrobatic movements.Finders Keepers Kinetic Arts Center Maria Chenut costumesFinders Keepers Kinetic Arts Center Maria Chenut costumes

Part of the visual concept was that their world was made in part out of larger human sized objects, hence the button hats, and other hats fashioned with baskets.Finders Keepers Kinetic Arts Center Maria Chenut costumes

One of the clowns needed a harness invented to support her clumsy erratic lamp. The goofy pants are from a fleece blanket.
